CASE STUDIES Nazareth Orchestra, London Sinfonietta and Jonny Greenwood (Israel/UK)
Lubna Salame, Nazareth Orchestra and Thom Yorke Visiting Arts and the Performing Right Society Foundation supported a collaboration between leading musicians from the Nazareth Orchestra, singer Lubna Salame, the London Sinfonietta and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead, which culminated with two performances at the Royal Festival Hall (27/28 March 2005) as part of the South Bank Centre’s Ether Festival. The collaboration resulted in the creation of a new work based on the classic Arabic song Enta Omri - ‘You Are My Life’ (music by Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, lyrics by Ahmad Shafiq Kamel) which was performed alongside works by, amongst others, Farid El-Atrash, Henri Dutilleux, Krystof Penderecki and Jonny Greenwood.
