Announcing registration for Visiting Arts International Producers Breakfast 2016

The Visiting Arts International Producers Breakfast 2016 is presented in partnership with Creative Scotland on Thursday 25 August. This annual event is a calendar staple for many attending the Edinburgh International Festival, creating the opportunity for 200 UK and international producers, programmers and creators with a passion for international and intercultural performance to come together, make new connections and sow seeds of collaboration, exchange and partnership for the coming year.

The breakfast, facilitated by our experienced ambassadors, will help you promote your projects, discover new works and connect with new people and potential work partners. An e-directory of participants will be distributed in advance of the event to facilitate networking.

This year, the discussion will focus on the role of festivals in promoting, fostering and inspiring the work of artists and culture-makers on the margins. What responsibility do cultural managers and arts practitioners have to provide visibility for those on the peripheries of cultural industries? How can festivals contribute to this aim? Speaking at this event will be Ruth Mackenzie, Artistic Director of Holland Festival.

This event will also be a chance to meet selected participants of the World Cultures Connect Creative Skills Training Programme, which aims to increase artists’ and creative practitioners’ awareness and knowledge of the platforms and provide tools and opportunities for communicating and promoting their work to local and international audiences and partners. The programme forms part of the Culture Works Connections project linking arts practitioners across Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific to international markets, and is funded by the ACP Cultures+ ACP-EU Support Programme to ACP Cultural Sectors, financed by the European Union and implemented by the ACP Group of States.

By incorporating participants of the Culture Works Connections project, The Visiting Arts Producers Breakfast aims to engage the wider Scottish, UK and International cultural sector in timely and relevant debate and discussion about art, festivals, visibility, and international collaboration.
