VA appoints Communications Associate

Visiting Arts has appointed Sophia Victoria as Communications Associate to drive communications behind World Cultures Connect, the new digital hub and networking platform for the arts and culture sectors worldwide. She will also be contributing to communications behind other VA initiatives including Culture Works Connections, linking the creative businesses in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific.

With a background in visual arts, Sophia also operates as an independent art consultant and agent, supporting and promoting the careers of emerging contemporary artists.

Previously managing a mentorship and professional development platform for aspiring artists, she has produced and promoted numerous events, including educational workshops and art dinners, as well as led business development and outreach projects. She was Project Organiser for a monthly late night cultural event for West London, where she worked with partner businesses to establish strong local connections and propel arts and culture in the area.

As Chief Advisor to Norwich based non profit arts organisation, SAVORR, who run a programme of open submission exhibitions and events, Sophia supports their goals to champion artists in the UK and internationally, strengthen the local contemporary art scene, encourage community engagement and build links with other arts organisations and institutions.

She is an advocate for collaboration and encouraging an appreciation and understanding of the arts.

World Cultures Connect is managed by Visiting Arts and supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Creative Scotland, Arts Council of Wales, Arts Council of Ireland, Culture Ireland and Aga Khan Trust for Culture.
