1mile2 Cardiff walks

As part of 1mile² Cardiff, participants are leading a series of walks to places in the square mile significant to them.

We’re inviting you to nominate a site within Grangetown, Butetown, Adamsdown or Splott and join local artist Rabab Ghazoul and the team for a short walk to this spot. Come with friends, family, group or an individual and share why this place is important to you and why it’s worth looking at more closely.

1mile² Cardiff 2011

1mile² Cardiff launches with the arrival of photographer Mahesh Shantaram.

1mile² Cardiff is a new arts, environment and community programme that inspires people to explore their neighbourhoods. Taking place in Butetown, Grangetown and Splott until October, the project invites local people to participate in activities and events. Professional and community dancers will create new work, inspired by the square mile and in response to local and global cultural and environmental issues.

From Wales to Washington - The Welsh Arts Critics’ Exchange Programme

The Welsh Arts Critics’ Exchange Programme concluded in Washington DC in June 2009 with a media event at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on The National Mall. All six participants took part in a roundtable discussion, chaired by programme co-ordinator Linda Christmas. The discussion ranged from reasons for participating, key impressions from visiting each others’ countries, notable learning outcomes, as well as the role of arts criticism in society today.
