January 2008

moves08, 22 – 26 April 2008
Manchester, Lancaster and the North West of England (plus call for entries)

Building on moves07’s success in positioning itself as a key platform for the industry and audiences interested in screen-based work exploring 'choreographed movement’, moves returns for the fourth year in Manchester, Lancaster and the North West of England.

Taking place 22-26 April 2008, moves08 will showcase a three-day conference focusing on the interaction of movement and sound in screen-based work, eleven international screenings including a North West showcase, a five-day filmmaking lab throughout the North West, a four-day filmmaking master-class in Salford, Manchester and Lancaster, live events and installations.

Through its ‘Discovery’ strand, moves08 will, for the first time, give a special place to students and emerging artists.

The conference will be co-hosted by Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts and Salford University.

Call for entries
moves is now accepting submissions for features, shorts and documentaries with a special focus on movement made in 2006, 2007 and 2008 only. Send your completed submission form along with a preview tape on vhs or dvd.  Deadline: 1 February 2008
