The Stories of Change exhibition and performance presented in April 2017 gives voice to people in the south Wales valleys who have been working on the creative Stories of Change project exploring their changing relationships with energy over the decades. Working with academic researchers at the University of South Wales and the University of Birmingham, in conjunction with Storyworks UK and community partners, they have provided oral histories and stories, and written poetry and prose, together with other audio and visual material, expressing how they feel about energy and the politics of power generation.
The short performance uses verbatim material and interpretation of the words in a creative performance capturing the past, present and the future of energy in the Valleys.
The exhibition and performance have been coordinated by Visiting Arts. The project has been funded by the AHRC, ACW, USW and generous donation of time and support by community partners at Treherbert (especially Community Voice, Welcome to our Woods, and Artiscommunity), Tairgwaith (Emily Hinshelwood and Canolfan Maerdy), and Ynysybwl (especially the Ynysybwl Regeneration Partnership and the Ynysybwl Enterprise Programme).
Adam Price AM is pleased to sponsor the Stories of Change exhibition and performance in the Neuadd of the Senedd.
