At a time when perceptions of Iran in the Western world are heavily affected by politics, it's easy to forget the richness, creativity and vibrancy of the country's capital city, which has for decades produced some of the most inventive voices in the Middle East.
Visiting Arts is delighted to announce the launch of The Book of Tehran, published by Comma Press. The publication was initiated through a programme bringing greater awareness to contemporary Iranian literature and advancing Persian to English translation.
In a rare commission, The Book of Tehran features ten contemporary short stories from some of the most exciting, significant writers in Iran today, interpreted by equally talented Persian to English translators - guiding us through the most populous city in Iran and Western Asia, and the second-largest metropolitan area in the Middle East today.
