Strengthening intercultural understanding through the arts

OUR WORK

We work with artists and cultural professionals expanding knowledge, horizons and opportunities for exchange to open dialogue, further international arts practice and champion intercultural understanding.

April 2008

30th Anniversary

Visiting Arts held a reception at the River Room of the House of Lords to celebrate our 30th Anniversary and to tell people of our renewed and fresh agenda for the future.

Our mission to “strengthen intercultural understanding through the arts” has never been more vital in its 30 year history than it is today and we are keen to focus our efforts on the three issues that are affecting intercultural understanding the most – the stretched tolerance and understanding that results from fear of global insecurity, the greatest migration of people across continents and countries and the impact of climate change on cultural relations.

We were pleased to welcome almost 100 people to the event and to show images from 30 years 30 stories which are also on the website.  We thank all our supporters, funders, collaborators, colleagues, artists and friends who have been part of this fascinating journey for the past 30 years and look forward to the next phase where Visiting Arts is poised to play an even more dynamic role in bringing people together across boundaries and to celebrate the richness of world cultures.
