Wilberforce Women 'Greetings!' (Sierra Leone / UK)

Wilberforce Women 'Greetings!' is a major exhibition thatcomprises photographic images contributed by women in Hull and women from Freetown, on the themes of Pride, Freedom, Belief and Change, together with personal messages.

The exhibition, originally as part of the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the British Slave Trade, was shown at The Ferens in Hull, East Yorkshire during October 2007. Artists Francess N Smart, Cecilia Blake and Julie Sesay, from Freetown, Sierra Leone, visited Kingston Upon Hull. where they took part in further photography skills workshops, met local photographers and artists and visited The Deep Aquarium. Cecilia joined photojournalist Lee Karen Stow to deliver a talk about children's rights at Kingswood College of Arts. There was a real exchange of skills and knowledge, culminating in the exhibition 'Greetings!'
